OMNI PRODUCTION UPDATE #13
Production Update
If you’re just joining us, we found that the shells were getting too tight around the ankles as they were curing. This is one of those issues you might not hit during sampling, but is obvious during production. The solution has been to add a retaining tube inside the shells as they cure to keep a nice round opening. In local testing we’ve found this works great, so the next step is to see if the factory can replicate it.
These latest samples have the tubes installed, and they’re even in the production boxes! I measured them and they’re a bit smaller than I would like, but I’m hoping they will work. The nice thing is if we notice improvements then we know we’re on the right track and can easily adjust the size of the tube to dial in the fit. So we’ve sent these samples to the team for review, and are crossing our fingers these are better than the last ones.
Omni Development Kit
We’ve updated the Omni Development Kit with two new sizes, the Small 271 and the X-Large 310. That leaves just the Medium 282 for all four base to be ready to use. The ODK is our open source project for anyone to create their own soul plates that fit perfectly with the Omni. Already I’ve heard from dozens of developers experimenting with the project and couldn’t be more excited to see what they come up with.
