OMNI PRODUCTION UPDATE #11

Production Update

The wheels arrived at the factory this week and we’ve started assembly, but ran into a problem during final sign off. Beginning with the first samples, the fit of the Small and Medium skates has been too tight around the ankles. I’ve updated you on a few attempts we’ve made to fix this issue but it still isn't correct. The most recent samples came this week and while they’re a big improvement they’re still too narrow. We’ve finally determined the cause.

For production skates, a paper tube is inserted into the liner to help it keep its shape. You see this in shoes sometimes, typically wads of paper or a form fitted insert. Without this tube installed, the cuffs have nothing to form around. So they squeeze in on the shells making them more wedge shaped instead of round. You can see the difference in the picture; the boots with the laces are the ones with the tube installed, the boots without are the most recent samples.

Rest assured that the factory has acknowledged this issue and is sending us new samples with liners and tube installed for verification. Additionally, for the shell only versions that don’t come with liners, they’re going to include a retention tube that’s wide enough to compensate for the missing liner. Most brands don’t sell shell only, so this is probably a new issue the factory hasn’t come across before. I’m thankful that we figured it out, and apologize for the delay this has caused.
